ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Gabriel Martinez (he/him)
Six photographs from Gabriel Martinez’s new series “Untitled Parallels” are available as postcard-sized UV prints on aluminum, each with a float mount hanger on verso for easy installation.
Martinez produced these photographs in 2020 - in the depths of the pandemic - to highlight the absence of Queer bodies in communal spaces such as saunas, night clubs, and Fire Island. Through this the artist illustrates parallels between the AIDS crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prints are made to order with approximately a one-two week turnaround time for production. They are part of an open edition.
Joe Sinness (he/him)
Available exclusively through this shop are four colored pencil drawings by Joe Sinness. Each drawing measures 12 x 8.5 in., unframed.
Sinness created these drawings for Headmaster Magazine No. 8, “The Village People” issue. Sinness was one of six artists assigned projects analyzing contemporary issues through the lens of one of the six archetypes embodied by this iconic group. While other artists focused on cultural topics, critiquing the group’s social context and legacy, Sinness’ drawings illustrates overlapping and and divergent moments of sensuality and performative masculinity.
Janie Stamm (she/her)
Native Floridian Janie Stamm has crafted five unique seashell souvenirs exclusively for the Pleasure Cruise Souvenir Shop.
Reflecting on the kitsch aesthetic that dominates boardwalks and shops across Florida, Stamm’s miniatures question the sustainability of such objects, highlighting their impact through beach-sourced shells, sand, and stickers.
Measurements vary for each piece.
Dustin Yager (he/they)
Dustin Yager has been working with clay for more than a dozen years, carefully developing expertise in working with porcelain on the pottery wheel. Yager is offering a number of ceramic works exclusively for the Pleasure Cruise Souvenir Shop, including his best-selling series of “Fuuuuuuuuuuuck” mugs, as well as vases, tumblers, shot glasses, bookends, and cups.
